Sintered carbides consist of fine, hard, wear-resistant carbides,like tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, tantalum carbide, either singly or in combination, bonded together by a relatively soft metallic binder such as cobalt or nickel. According to the type and the amount of carbides and binders used, sintered carbides exhibit a wide range of properties from extreme hardness to very tough grades. These grades have their own applications.
