Product advantages:

Adopting ultrahigh purity of hafnium dioxide and high purity carbon black as raw materials, with the unique additive formulation, alloy sintering technology, max ensure the purity of hafnium carbide powder, low oxygen content, low free carbon, the powder grain densification, the  stable phase composition, carbonization sintering uniform, uniform size, stable quality.

Product Application Case:

1. hafnium carbide as an additive added to the solid rocket engine throat lining material

Carbon-carbon composites are the preferred materials for throat linings for solid rocket motors due to their superior high temperature thermal and mechanical properties over other materials. During engine operation, the carbon-carbon composite throat lining is destroyed under severe thermal environment and the inner profile is ablated by heat flux scouring with high temperature, high pressure, high velocity and containing corrosive particles. The throat diameter is enlarged , Rough surface roughness, irregular shape, etc., thus affecting the working pressure of the engine, resulting in lower nozzle efficiency.

2.The anti-ablation performance of HfC-C-C composites can be greatly improved by adding 8% -10% HfC produced by our company to the hose liner of a certain type of weapon system. HfC contributes to the ablation resistance of the throat lining of HfC-C-C composites. There are two main aspects: First, HfC preferentially reacts with oxygen during high temperature ablation to form HfO2 at an ablation temperature of 3500 ° C, effectively preventing the oxidation caused by oxygen atmosphere reacting on the composite carbon matrix and carbon fiber ; Second, due to high strength and hardness, HfC effectively improve the overall mechanical resistance to abrasion, erosion performance, greatly inhibiting the mechnical erosion caused by the fuel on the lining of the throat. Obviously, the ablation resistance of HfC-C-C composites increases with the increase of HfC content. The experimental results show that when the content of HfC reaches 8% -10%, the  line ablation rate of HfC-C-C composites will appear approximately constant stable, in solid rocket engine test conditions, HfC-C-C composite throat lining has good anti-erosion properties.

1 atomic hafnium carbide and 4 atomic tantalum carbide, consisting of tantalum hafnium duplex carbide 4TaC · HfC, by using laser extreme heating technology to test 4TaC · HfC heat resistance, melting point reached 3905 degrees Celsius. Is a compound material known to have the highest melting point. It is a very good refractory ceramic material. Some of our U.S. customers are applying thermal protection systems to high-speed aircraft. They are extremely heat-resistant, able to withstand and withstand extremely harsh High temperature environment, but also as a nuclear reactor overheated fuel cladding.

Heat caused by air friction, including when traveling at supersonic speeds over Mach 5, will produce very high temperatures. As 4TaC · HfC materials withstand and withstand extremely harsh high temperature environments, paving the way for the next generation of supersonic aircraft, this material means the new spacecraft may be faster than ever before. 4TaC · HfC materials are used in the field of supersonic aircraft, aircraft nose, the outer edge of the parts subjected to the greatest friction during the flight and so on, making it possible to fly manned aircraft traveling at Mach 5.

3. Hafnium carbide is an important functional material for making control rods and protective devices of nuclear reactors. It is an important material for the atomic energy industry and can be used as a rocket propulsion device. It is especially suitable for the field of throat materials of rocket nozzles and rocket lances and rocket nose cone parts for rocket returning to the atmosphere. Hafnium-containing alloys can be used as rocket nozzles and aircraft frontier protection layer for returning to atmosphere.

4. Due to high hardness and high melting point, as an additive, hafnium carbide powder can be used in carbide cutting tools, cermet cutting tools, powder metallurgy products, high temperature structural materials, high temperature spraying materials; Hf-Ta alloy containing HfC can fabricate tool steel and resistance materials; addition of hafnium carbide in the heat-resistant alloy, such as adding HfC in tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum alloy, the hardness, strength, ablation resistance and high temperature performance can be improved.

5. Due to high melting point,  hafnium carbide powder as a deoxidizer used in the steel making industry, can greatly improve the quality of steel; it can be used as a cathode material in the electrical devices.
